The present Memorial Hall was opened by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in July 1983.

It was built on the site of the old Hall that was destroyed by fire in 1981.

The Hall is a registered charity and is managed on behalf of the people of Kimpton by a Management Committee made up of four Trustees, two Parish Councillors and representatives of local organisations. A smaller Administrative Committee oversees the day to day running of the Hall with the full Management Committee meeting twice a year.

The income from hiring fees covers the running costs with grants & donations being used for improvements

In recent years a programme of refurbishment has included improving the backstage area to create a meeting room with its own facilities that can be hired independently of the Main Hall and a complete refurbishment of the main toilets.

These improvements were made possible with help of the Parish Council, donations from local groups such as the Kimpton Players, Kimpton May Festival, the Autumn Show, Kimpton Horse Show, concerts by local musicians and grants from North Herts. District Council.

Most of the upkeep and maintenance of the Hall is undertaken by volunteers with the help of a part-time cleaner.

Hirers are expected to leave the building as they would wish to find it.
